Mitchell Starc’s fourth Indian Premier League season will witness him turning up for his third franchise. At 35, apart from his vast experience, the speedster has a lot to give to any team which signs him.

For example, most of Starc’s IPL 2024 match days were poor. For bowlers who bowled at least 250 balls last season, his economy rate of 10.61 was the highest. In spite of that, he was among the four bowlers with a strike rate of <15.

With him bagging both his match awards during playoff matches in a title-winning effort, Delhi Capitals wouldn’t mind him leaking runs if it benefits them in more ways than one during the course of the ongoing 18th season of the biggest T20 league in the world. Three records which Starc can achieve this season are:

3. 200 Wickets In T20s

Been playing T20s for over 15 years now, Starc has picked 193 wickets at an average of 20.59, an economy rate of 7.77 and a strike rate of 15.8. Another seven wickets will see the left-arm bowler become only the 11th Australian bowler with 200 T20 wickets.

2. 50 T20 Wickets In India

Starc, who has played more T20s in India than Australia, has picked 48 wickets here at an average of 23.91, an economy rate of 8.48 and a strike rate of 16.9. While he has picked the same number of T20 wickets in Australia, India would become the first nation where Starc picks 50 wickets in the format. Therefore, silencing his critics in the process.

1. 100 Wickets in Asia

While the difference between Starc’s T20 appearances in India and Australia is just six, he has played 34 more matches in Asia than Oceania. Having also picked 45 more wickets in the subcontinent, the veteran Aussie needs six more wickets to complete 100 T20 wickets in Asian conditions. For now, his 94 wickets have come at an average of 21.56, an economy rate of 8.02 and a strike rate of 16.1.
