The IPL 2025 mega auction saw 10 franchises bidding for top players from a pool of 577 cricketers, which included 367 Indian and 210 overseas players.

While Rishabh Pant made history as the most expensive player ever in the IPL, sold for ₹27 crore, the most expensive foreign player in IPL 2025 was England’s star batter Jos Buttler. 1. Jos Buttler (₹15.75 crore)

English batter Jos Buttler was the most expensive foreign player in IPL 2025, bought by Gujarat Titans for ₹15.75 crore. He previously played for Rajasthan Royals and is known for his explosive batting in T20 cricket.

Before joining Rajasthan Royals, he played for MI in 2016-17, scoring 527 runs in 24 matches and winning the IPL title in 2017.

2. Trent Boult (₹12.50 crore)

New Zealand experienced fast bowler Trent Boult was the second-highest-paid overseas player in IPL 2025. Mumbai Indians (MI) secured him for ₹12.50 crore, bringing him back to the team where he played in 2020 and 2021.

Over the years, he has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, and Rajasthan Royals.

3. Josh Hazlewood (₹12.50 crore)

Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood was another top buy in IPL 2025, with RCB spending ₹12.50 crore to acquire him. Known for his pace and accuracy, Hazlewood has been a key player in Australia’s bowling lineup.

He played his first IPL season for CSK in 2020 and was bought by MI in 2014 but did not participate. Later, he played for RCB in 2022 and 2023.

4. Jofra Archer (₹12.50 crore)

Jofra Archer returned to RR after being bought for ₹12.50 crore in IPL 2025. He previously played for them from 2018-2020 before joining Mumbai Indians in 2022.

Injuries have troubled Archer in recent years, limiting his time on the field. Despite his fitness struggles, RR trusted his abilities and brought him back for the upcoming season.

5. Mitchell Starc (₹11.75 crore)

Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc was picked up by Delhi Capitals for ₹11.75 crore. He was previously with KKR, where he became the most expensive player in IPL history after KKR bought him for ₹24.75 crore in the IPL 2024 auction.
