The Indian cricket team's coaching department, led by head coach Gautam Gambhir, has come under intense scrutiny and criticism after a series of underwhelming performances by the Men in Blue. Under the guidance of former head coach Rahul Dravid, the team won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. However, the team's performance has faced a significant dip in form since Gambhir's appointment.

It is important to mention that Gautam Gambhir replaced Rahul Dravid as head coach across all formats this year. After his appointment as the head coach, Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate were appointed as the assistant coaches. Both of them served under him at KKR during the IPL 2024. Meanwhile, former South African fast bowler Morne Morkel was named as the new bowling coach.

Despite these fresh appointments, the team India's performance have not been upto the expectations. The issue that raised several eyebrows is related to the lack of a designated batting coach. However, in recent matches, the team has struggled to build partnerships and the batters have failed to deliver consistent performances. The absence of a specialist batting coach has been seen by many as a potential factor behind these issues.

So, in this article, let's take a look at three players who can become India's batting coach.

1. Sanjay Bangar

Sanjay Bangar is the first on the list and can be re-appointed as the Indian cricket team's coaching staff following growing concerns over the team's recent struggles with the bat. His previous tenure as batting coach from 2014 to 2019 was marked by success, including India’s rise to the top of the ICC Test rankings.

Prior to this, Bangar had gained recognition as the head coach of  Punjab Kings in the 2014 IPL, where he guided the franchise to a runner-up finish in the tournament.

2. Yuvraj Singh

The second name that has the potential to be appointed as the batting coach is Yuvraj Singh, He can be appointed as the batting coach under the leadership of head coach Gautam Gambhir.  It is important to mention that both cricketers share a very good bond, and there have been instances where Gautam Gambhir praised Yuvraj, calling him one of the best cricketers in the white-ball format.

3. Virender Sehwag

The third on the list is Virender Sehwag, who has the potential and can be appointed as India's batting coach. The first reason is that Sehwag was a quality batter during his time. The level of aggression balanced with consistency sets him apart from others. The second reason is that he has the experience and served as a mentor of Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) before parting ways with the franchise in 2018.

Lastly, Virender Sehwag has also expressed his desire to serve as the team's batting coach. So, collectively, all these reasons could make him a potential option for India's batting coach.
