Australia maintained a firm grip on India in the ongoing third Test on Day 3, despite the weather wreaking havoc on the day’s proceedings. A mixture of rain delays and poor light heavily disrupted play. But Australia took full advantage of the conditions and built a dominant position before the weather intervened again.
Alex Carey was the star of the Australian innings, holding firm from one end. His excellent half-century brought Australia closer to the 450-run mark. Jasprit Bumrah, proved his class with the ball, finishing with a brilliant six-wicket haul to end Australia’s innings.
India’s reply got off to a disastrous start. Yashasvi Jaiswal departed after scoring 4 runs. The wickets continued to tumble as Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli both fell cheaply. India were left reeling at 22/3, and a rain delay soon followed. However, once play resumed, Pat Cummins dismissed Rishabh Pant, and India found themselves in a precarious position.
Despite being firmly on the back foot, India will likely feel relieved that the rain has disrupted play and given them a chance to regroup.
So ahead of day 4 of the third Test, let's take a look at the weather report for Brisbane Cricket Ground, Gabba.
