Former cricketer, Ramiz Raja, has slammed the entire Pakistan team for their dismal showing against Bangladesh in the first Test in Rawalpindi.

The hosts were expected to win the contest, and they started on the front-foot, but some horrendous batting, and a lacklustre bowling attack meant that the Tigers registered a shocking win over Shan Masood's men.

Pakistan great lashes out at toothless bowling attack

Pakistan have not won a single home Test since 2021, and Ramiz Raja didn't mince his words as he ruthlessly attacked the bowling attack of Pakistan.

“Firstly, there was a mistake in team selection. You were without a spinner, secondly, the reputation based on which we rely on our fast bowlers is finished," Ramiz Raja said on his YouTube channel.

He added: “Their speeds have decreased, and so have their skill set. The Bangladesh fast bowlers seemed more penetrative while our bowlers were involved in more drama around their wickets."

Raja criticises Masood's captaincy

Raja was also skeptical about Masood's captaincy, and was also critical about his poor batting approach throughout the match.

“Shan Masood is currently on a losing streak. I felt, in Australian conditions things are tougher and the Pakistan team couldn’t win a series there. But you are now losing in home conditions, against a team like Bangladesh, because you did not read the conditions well,” he said.

Raja also mentioned that Masood hasn't delivered with the bat, and that has put the pressure on the entire side. He further added that the more matches Pakistan loses, the more pressure it will be created in the entire dressing room.

After a drubbing in the first Test, the second game of the series will take place on August 30, at the same venue, Rawalpindi.
