Brisbane Heat Women (BH-W) and Sydney Thunder Women (ST-W) will be crossing paths in the much-important Challenger of the WBBL 2024 season on Friday, November 29. Both Heat and Thunder qualified for the knockout stage of the competition by securing second and third positions respectively on the eight-team standings.

Brisbane Heat Women qualified for the Challenger by finishing at number two on the WBBL 2024 points table, having secured seven wins amidst just three defeats from 10 matches at a healthy NRR of 0.384. Currently on a five-game winning streak, Brisbane Heat will be aiming to sustain their momentum in the knockouts to qualify for the finals. Much of Heat’s success can be attributed to their leading run-getters Grace Harris (270 runs) and Jemimah Rodrigues (223 runs). Spinner Jess Jonassen (14 wickets) and pacer Shikha Pandey (12 wickets) have also ably helmed the bowling department of the team.

Phoebe Litchfield and Georgia Voll, with over 300 runs each, have both emerged among some of the highest run-makers of the season. Samantha Bates with her 19-wicket tally is not only ranked second on the season’s leading wicket-takers list, but is the most successful Sydney Thunder bowler in WBBL 2024, followed by Sri Lankan legend Chamari Athapaththu.
