Sydney Cricket Ground Pitch Report: Is It Batting Or Bowling Friendly?

The surface at Sydney Cricket Ground has been excellent for batting in the BBL this season. Generally, the fast bowlers get a hint of seam movement, while the track favours the spinners in the latter half. However, in the BBL 2024-25, the SCG surface has behaved like a batting beauty, with the teams breaching the 190-run mark four out of six times.

So, unless it's a used pitch, expect the playing conditions to favour the batters. Having said that, we can't rule out the possibility of spinners and fast bowlers being successful, as each team has a number of match-winners with the ball. Unless a used pitch is dished out, expect the toss-winner to bowl first.

Players To Watch Out For At Sydney Cricket Ground

Ashleigh Gardner

  • Australia's premier all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner showcased remarkable form in the ODI series, slamming 146 runs at an average of 73. Apart from scoring valuable runs, Gardner can rattle the English side with her wily spin bowling.

Ellyse Perry

  • Ellyse Perry has vast experience of playing at the SCG. She has led Sydney Sixers Women and could be a game-changer for Australia with bat and ball.

Nat Sciver-Brunt

  • England's experienced all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt was their highest scorer in the ODI series, scoring 115 runs at an average of 38.33. She can make the ball talk and could be a match-winner for the tourists in this game.

P.S: Apart from these players, the eyes will also be on Alana King, Sophie Ecclestone, Danielle Wyatt, Georgia Wareham and Annabel Sutherland.
