Bangladesh's legendary all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan finds himself in deep trouble after a Dhaka court issued an arrest warrant against him with regard to a cheque fraud case. Despite being a gifted cricketer, Shakib's career has been marred by controversies from time to time.

The southpaw, who is not a part of Bangladesh's Champions Trophy squad, has grabbed the headlines for another wrong reason, with the court finding him guilty of cheque fraud.

Dhaka Court Issues Arrest Warrant Against Shakib Al Hasan

According to Cricbuzz, Dhaka's additional chief metropolitan magistrate Ziadur Rahman released an arrest warrant against Bangladesh's premier spin-bowling all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for his involvement in a dishonoured cheque case. The warrant also includes three persons apart from Shakib, who left Bangladesh after a vigorous student protest dethroned the country's former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Notably, Shakib's company, Al Hasan Agro Farm Ltd., borrowed a lumpsum amount from IFIC Bank's Banani branch. However, the farm couldn't repay the loan on time due to insufficient funds. As a result, the IFIC bank's relationship officer, Shahibur Rahman, accused four persons, including Shakib, of failing to transfer an amount of 4,14,57000 BDT through two separate cheques before the deadline.

Consequently, Shahibur filed a case against the four accused on December 15, with the Dhaka court ordering Shakib to appear before it for a hearing on January 19. However, as the veteran cricketer neither repaid the loan nor returned to the country for the hearing, the court had to issue an arrest warrant against him.
