The much-awaited Duleep Trophy 2024 commences on Thursday, with India A taking on India B in the tournament opener in Bengaluru. However, on the same day, India C will also kickstart their journey in the tournament, as they will lock horns with India D in a high-profile face-off at Anantpur.

India C suffered a massive setback ahead of the competition, with ace batter Suryakumar Yadav being ruled out of the first round. Renowned for his aggressive batting, Suryakumar has sustained a hand injury and won't participate in India C's Duleep Trophy opener against the D team.

However, despite missing the swashbuckling batter, India C have several players who can win matches on their own. Led by prominent Indian batter Ruturaj Gaikwad, the C team is studded with South Indian superstars Baba Indrajith and Sai Sudharsan, who can bat long to score daddy hundreds.

Furthermore, the inclusion of Abhishek Porel and Aryan Juyal ensures dynamism in their batting line-up, as these two batters can score quick runs in the lower middle order.

Spin bowling in focus as India C aim to outclass India D

However, amid Gaikwad's flamboyance and Sudharsan's elegance, the focus will be on India C's spinners. While Mayank Markande will lead the spin attack, the likes of Manav Suthar and Hrithik Shokeen can also be lethal on spin-friendly decks.

Anshul Kamboj, who looked sharp for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024, could also find a place in the XI, with the experienced Sandeep Warrier leading the pace attack alongside RCB's talented seam bowler Vijaykumar Vyshak.

Thus, India C's biggest strength will be their top-order batters and all-rounders, as they aim to get a winning start to the competition.
