Shikha Pandey Dropped? Here’s Delhi Capitals' Probable XI For WPL 2024 Vs Gujarat Giants

In-form Delhi Capitals Women are set to lock horns with Gujarat Giants Women in a blockbuster Sunday night clash. But will Meg Lanning take the plunge and tweak the winning combination? Or will she opt to field the same XI?

After an initial setback in the WPL 2024 season opener, Delhi Capitals Women came back roaring in their next two fixtures. Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma’s onslaught outclassed UP Warriorz. But DC’s most explosive performance came against Royal Challengers Bangalore Women on Thursday. Delhi silenced the M.Chinnaswamy crowd by posting the highest total of the tournament (194 runs) in the first innings.

Marizanne Kapp and Jess Jonassen’s fiery cameo in the death left RCB-W stunned as they failed to produce a counterattack. Eventually, Delhi Capitals registered a thumping 25-run win to top the points table with a +1.271 net run rate.

That being said, the tournament is still very competitive, and one misstep will cost the Capitals a lot more than they presume. Thus, they cannot take the upcoming fixture against Gujarat Giants Women for granted.

Meg Lanning has been spot-on with her combination this season. Her pairing at the top with Shafali Verma sets the tone for the middle order. Jemimah has been inconsistent but is a crucial piece of the lineup. Besides, Alice Capsey has had her moments of ups and downs.

Jess Jonassen’s addition worked wonders for DC-W in the previous fixture. The only thing Lanning could do differently against GG-W would probably promote another young Indian talent.

Promising pacer Titas Sadhu could replace Minnu Mani in the playing XI. Titas rose to fame after her heroics against Australia in the recently concluded bilateral series. She has the tools to succeed in the shorter format and must be given a chance to prove herself. While Minnu has been decent so far, Titas Sadhu is worth a try.
