Delhi Capitals’ Australian import Jess Jonassen pounded an unbeaten 36 from just 16 balls against WPL 2024 table-toppers RCB Women at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Her slog overs assault over RCB bowlers surged the Delhi Capitals total to a highly-competitive 194-5 by the completion of their innings.

Jonassen had made her way to the crease with five overs left in the innings, and ended up belting four boundaries and a couple of sixes during her 16-ball whirlwind knock.

Batting at number six, Delhi Capitals spinner Jess Jonassen arrived to the crease during the 16th over of the innings following the sudden dismissals of well-set top-order batters Shafali Verma and Alice Capsey as well as number four Jemimah Rodrigues for a duck at 124-4.

With just 30 balls remaining in the innings, Jonassen ended up facing 16 of those deliveries to pump out 36 unbeaten runs to take her side to 194-5 by the conclusion of their 20 overs. The Australian cricketer even thwacked Indian spinner Shreyanka Patil for a huge six way over wide long on off the final ball, just moments after dispatching the young RCB star for a boundary towards extra cover.

Jess Jonassen’s calculated assault, coupled with Marizanne Kapp’s sizzling cameo and Arundhati Reddy’s four-ball 10* ensured the Delhi Capitals batters pounded 70 runs from their final five overs of the innings.

Earlier in the match, opener Shafali Verma listed a 31-ball half-century and shared a counterattacking 82-run partnership with number three Alice Capsey (46 off 33 balls) for the second wicket. Delhi Capitals opener and captain Meg Lanning, meanwhile, failed to make much impact at the top of the order as she was accounted by her Trans-Tasman New Zealand rival Sophie Devine for a sluggish 11.
