She played a crucial role in providing a robust finish to the innings, scoring 36 runs off a mere 16 balls. Jonassen's aggressive batting display included 4 fours and 2 sixes, with a particular focus on targeting the mid-wicket area, contributing 23 runs, while 6 runs came from the long-off region, and 4 runs were scored on the square leg side.

Jess Jonassen showcased exceptional bowling skills during the match, maintaining an impressive economy from the beginning. Her impactful performance reached its peak in the final over as she claimed three crucial wickets. The first breakthrough came with the dismissal of Sophie Molineux, who fell victim to a well-tossed-up delivery. Jess Jonassen continued her impactful bowling display by securing two more wickets in consecutive deliveries. Simran Bahadur was the first to fall, attempting to take on the flight but ending up with a high scoop off the bat. The straightforward catch was safely pouched by Meg Lanning at cover. The ball went straight into the hands of the long-on fielder.

Conclusion

The Delhi Capitals spent quite a lot to secure the services of Annabel Sutherland for the tournament. But she failed to make the most of the opportunities given to her.

The decision of including Jonassen in place of Sutherland turned out be a tactical masterclass in the game against Bangalore. In order to elevate their chances in the tournament, the Capitals might look to stick with Jonassen for the longer period of time.
