The Delhi Capitals secured a convincing 25-run victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the seventh match of the Women's Premier League (WPL 2024) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Despite Smriti Mandhana's resilient 74, DC's formidable batting performance propelled them to a commanding position. 

Shafali Verma's brisk 50, Alice Capsey's powerful contribution of 46, and a strong finish by Jess Jonassen (36 not out off 16 balls) and Marizanne Kapp (32 off 16 balls) played pivotal roles in DC's success. The comprehensive win elevated Delhi Capitals to the top of the points table, displacing the home side and handing them their first defeat of the season.


Delhi Capitals displayed exceptional performances in the bowling department, with Marizanne Kapp continuing her impressive form by securing two wickets in her four-over spell. Kapp's all-around performance earned her the well-deserved Player of the Match award. Jess Jonassen, making her first appearance this season, had a remarkable day contributing with both bat and ball. In a significant strategic move, Jess Jonassen was included in the playing XI, replacing Annabel Sutherland for Delhi Capitals, and this decision proved pivotal in their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Jonassen delivered a stellar all-round performance, making a substantial impact with the bat. She played a crucial role in providing a robust finish to the innings, scoring 36 runs off a mere 16 balls.
