In a phenomenal achievement, veteran Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma has become the highest run-getter as an opener in the history of the World Test Championship.

The Indian captain surpassed Australian stalwart David Warner to attain the remarkable feat during India's recently concluded Test match against England in Ranchi.

Rohit, who slammed a scintillating fifty in the second innings of the game, currently sits at the top of the list with 2449 runs to his tally.

Overall, England's veteran batter Joe Root occupies first on the list of most successful batters, followed by the Australian duo of Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne at second and third spots, respectively. Rohit, the most successful Indian batter in WTC history, is seventh on that list.

  • Usman Khawaja- 2238 runs in 48 innings

Having won three of the four concluded Tests, India have already clinched the high-voltage series. The fifth dead rubber between the two teams will be played at the picturesque HPCA stadium in Dharamsala from March 7 to 11.
