The dispute regarding the location of Champions Trophy 2025 is getting darker and darker with each passing day. India is not ready to travel to Pakistan, the designated hosts of the event, and that has created a roadblock with PCB not ready to compromise with a hybrid model. They want India to travel to Pakistan, but it seems almost impossible now, and in all probability, a hybrid model will be executed.

Now, ahead of an important meeting on November 29, where the final decision will be taken by ICC, Mohsin Naqvi, the PCB chairman has stated in the press conference at the Gadaffi Stadium that they will do what is best for Pakistan cricket.

PCB Chairman Takes Tough Stance On India

The chairman added that he is in constant touch with the ICC chairman and added that they have made it clear to ICC about how they want to keep things in equal terms with India. He mentioned that Pakistan will not travel to India for any tournament if the BCCI do not allow its team to play Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

“Our stance is very clear. I promise we’ll do what is best for Pakistan cricket. I’m constantly in touch with the ICC chairman and my team is talking to them constantly. We’re still clear in our stance that it’s not acceptable that we play cricket in India, and they don’t play cricket here. Whatever will happen, will happen on the basis of equality. We’ve told the ICC very clearly, and what happens next we’ll let you know.”

If Pakistan do stand firm on this stance, then their participation in the 2026 T20 World Cup 2024 comes in serious doubt. They travelled to India for the 2023 World Cup even though India did not went to their shores for the Asia Cup in the same year. It remains to be seen how the Champions Trophy fiasco unfolds, but the political tensions between the two countries have surely made things difficult for ICC.
