India and Sri Lanka are set to clash in a three-match T20I series starting on 27 July at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

Considering the fact that India fresh off their T20 World Cup 2024 victory, the hosts will go with all guns blazing, and are expected to field a robust playing XI for the opening match.

Leading Sri Lanka is the new skipper, Charith Asalanka, who might choose Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis as the opening pair. Both players have performed well under Asalanka’s leadership in the Lanka Premier League (LPL), where they recently secured a victory for Jaffna Kings.

At one down, Avishka Fernando, who has shown great form in the LPL 2024, is expected to be included. Kamindu Mendis will likely occupy the fourth spot, followed by Charith Asalanka and Dasun Shanaka in the middle order.

The all-rounder department will be strengthened by Dasun Shanaka, former captain Wanindu Hasaranga, and Dunith Wellalage, all of whom can contribute significantly with both bat and ball.

In the formidable pace attack, Sri Lanka is set to field Matheesha Pathirana, Nuwan Thusara, and Dasun Shanaka, forming a lineup that has the potential to stun a high-flying Indian contingent.
