New Zealand and South Africa are set to face off in the second match of the Tri-Series in Pakistan. This exciting battle will take place at the famous Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on February 10. New Zealand, led by Mitchell Santner, had a fantastic start to the tournament. They stunned the hosts, Pakistan, in the first match with a dominant 78-run victory.

Glenn Phillips and Daryl Mitchell shined with the bat, while Matt Henry and Santner took three wickets each to crush Pakistan’s batting lineup.

On the other hand, South Africa are struggling in ODIs. They recently suffered a humiliating 3-0 series defeat to Pakistan at home. With the ICC Champions Trophy approaching, they need a fresh start. Skipper Temba Bavuma will look to key players like Wiaan Mulder, Aiden Markram, Kyle Verreynne, and Lungi Ngidi to step up. Matthew Breetzke and Senuran Muthusamy could also play crucial roles with the bat and ball.

As both teams prepare for this thrilling contest, let's take a look at the head-to-head records in ODIs.

NZ vs SA: What Happened When They Last Played In ODIs?

The last time New Zealand and South Africa faced off in an ODI was during the 2023 World Cup at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. It turned out to be a one-sided affair, with South Africa securing a massive 190-run victory.

New Zealand won the toss and chose to field first. South Africa started cautiously, with Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock putting up 38 runs for the first wicket before Bavuma fell for 24. What followed was a batting masterclass from de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen. The duo added a brilliant 200-run partnership, with de Kock smashing 114 and van der Dussen scoring 133 off 118 balls. David Miller's quickfire 53 off 30 balls took South Africa to a daunting total of 357.

New Zealand’s bowling attack struggled, especially after Matt Henry left the field with a hamstring injury. Tim Southee took two wickets but conceded 77 runs, while Trent Boult was the most economical, giving away just 49 runs in 10 overs. Jimmy Neesham took one wicket but was expensive, leaking 69 runs in just 5.3 overs. It was a dominant performance by South Africa, sealing a comprehensive win.
