On Wednesday, Australia will take on England in the first T20I of the upcoming three-match series. The high-octane face-off is scheduled at The Rose Bowl in Southampton. Led by Mitchell Marsh, Australia are high on confidence following their emphatic series victory over Scotland. After a seven-wicket win in the series opener, the Aussies steamrolled the hosts in the subsequent affairs to clinch the series by three-nil.

Considering Australia's recent form, we expect them to give England a run for their money in the three-match series. As Mitchell Marsh and co gear up for the tour, let's see what their playing XI could be for the series opener in Southampton.

Will Mitchell Marsh Drop The Out-Of-Form Travis Head?

Australia's swashbuckling opener, Travis Head, sustained a rough patch in the recently concluded Scotland T20Is. He kickstarted the series with a bang, leading Australia's response with a belligerent knock. However, left-arm pacer Brad Currie exploited his technical limitations, dismissing him cheaply in the next two games.

However, despite blowing hot and cold in the Scotland series, Travis Head is expected to feature in Australia's playing XI for the first T20I against England. He is one of the most dangerous batters going around and could be a genuine threat to the English bowling unit on Southampton's batting-friendly surface.

Among others, Jake Fraser-McGurk, who registered three consecutive failures against Scotland, will be given another opportunity to showcase his batting prowess. Skipper Mitchell Marsh will continue to bat at three, followed by the in-form Josh Inglis, Marcus Stoinis and Tim David.

Cameron Green will play as the seam-bowling all-rounder alongside Stoinis, with Xavier Bartlett, Sean Abbott, Riley Meredith and Adam Zampa leading Australia's formidable bowling department.
