In a remarkable achievement, Sri Lanka's experienced opener Pathum Nissanka became the most successful batter in 2024 following his batting exploits in the recently concluded Test match between England and Sri Lanka at Kennington Oval. The elegant opener slammed scintillating knocks in both innings, playing a pivotal role in Sri Lanka's commendable win in the final dead-rubber. 

After smashing a quick-fire fifty in the first innings, Nissanka headlined Sri Lanka's dominant batting display with a magnificent century. Riding on his exceptional knock, the visitors concluded the series on a high note, registering a memorable eight-wicket victory

Nissanka scored 191 runs in the Oval Test, taking his tally to 1135 international runs in 2024. The opener has showcased exemplary form this year, leading Sri Lanka to many memorable wins across formats. 

His impressive outing in the final England Test helped him surpass Rohit on the list of highest run-getters this year. The Indian captain is placed fourth below his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal.
