Melbourne Renegades
Melbourne Renegades’ BBL 14 season is more or less over. They are seated at the bottom of the points table with six points in nine games. In the latest mishap, they lost to Hobart Hurricanes by four wickets. Jacob Bethell stepped up after a series of failures to put 87 off 50 on the board.
However, 154 runs total was not good enough for the mighty Hurricanes. Nikhil Chaudhary, Matthew Wade, and Tim David’s timely contributions helped the Hurricanes wrap up the chase with two balls to spare. Therefore, Renegades will be playing for their pride as their playoff hopes are only alive mathematically.
Brisbane Heat
Brisbane Heat, on the other hand, are facing a precarious situation. They are seated fifth on the points table with two playoff spots left. However, their recent form hasn’t been ideal as they lost their last games against Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes. Against the Hurricanes, the Heat got off to a blazing start and put 201 runs on the board.
Marnus Labuschagne (77) and Matt Renshaw (40) knitted a fiery partnership. However, the bowlers made a meal of the game. Caleb Jewell (76) and Mitchell Owen (44) provided a good start. Nikhil Chaudhary also added 39 runs before Wade finished off things with 15 off 9 balls. Stakes are higher for the Heat as they aim for the playoff spot.
