Indian captain Rohit Sharma took to the nets for an intense training session following his successive batting failures during the recently-concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series in Australia. The legendary Indian opener managed to tally just 31 runs in the three Tests against Australia, and also failed to notch up a single notable knock in India’s preceding home series against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

In a bid to prepare himself for the impeding home ODIs against England and for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in the UAE, captain Sharma shared a short footage of himself where he can be seen smacking the ball all around the wicket in the nets. Notably, the senior Indian cricketer did so in the presence of a certain Mumbai Indians colleague, who seemingly witnessed all the action from behind the stumps.

Tilak Varma seemingly studies Master at Work

Rohit Sharma channeled his standard ‘beast mode’ during a nets training session, where he can be seen smashing the ball all around the park with his elegant pulls and timely cuts. The 37-year-old shared the footage of the same through his social media accounts on Friday, January 17.

Interestingly, Sharma’s Mumbai Indians teammates and India’s active T20I superstar Tilak Varma watched all the action unfold right in front of him.

Tilak Varma recently starred in India’s emphatic 3-1 T20I series win in South Africa. The blistering left-hander mounted match-winning centuries against the hosts, and is slated to reprise his role for Team India in the upcoming five-match assignment against the visiting English team under the leadership of T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav.

Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, is bracing himself up for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in the UAE. The cricketer will likely feature in India’s three-match ODI series against England in February before the launch of the eight-team event.
