Matthew Wade wins it for Hobart With Final-ball Six (Source:@BBL/X.com)
Matthew Wade has retired from international cricket, but is still going strong and is playing for Hobart Hurricanes in BBL 14. He has played few cameos in this seasons so far, but he probably saved his best for the game against Brisbane Heat where he has now pulled off a thrilling final-ball win for his side.
Brisbane Heat scored 201 while batting first and though Hobart Hurricanes started well, the equation came down to Hurricanes needing 11 off the final over. Matthew Wade was batting on six off 6 balls, and the bowler Xavier Bartlett delivered decent five balls. The pressure was on both batter and bowler, but Wade is an experienced player and has handled such situations beautifully in the past.
Matthew Wade Shows His Class Yet Again In Pressure Situation
The man delivered yet again, Xavier Bartlett bowled a low full toss on middle and the wicketkeeper batter flicked it off his pads over deep square leg for a maximum. It was quite a shot under pressure and brought back memories of his stunning cameo against Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2021 semifinal.
In that game, he smashed Shaheen Afridi for three sixes. Two of them being amazing scoop shots and one a slog over deep square leg. Australia chased down a tricky target in that game and went onto win the T20 World Cup 2021.
Now, his latest heroics has taken his team Hobart Hurricanes at the top of the table with seven wins in nine matches while Brisbane Heat are at fifth position.
