Kandy Falcons and Jaffna Kings will go up against each other on Tuesday (July 9) in Match 11 of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024 at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.

While Jaffna are placed top of the points table, with three wins and a defeat, Kandy are at the bottom, having lost three out of their four attempts.

Kandy Falcons began the tournament with a six-wicket victory over Dambulla Strikers. Then they endured back-to-back defeats to Colombo Strikers before Galle Marvels made them suffer three defeats on the bounce.

The Wanindu Hasaranga-led side have superstars in the mix, with Dasun Shanaka, Angelo Mathews, Shoriful Islam, and Dinesh Chandimal to name a few. However, they all have failed to live up to the lofty standards, resulting in them finding themselves at the rock bottom of the chart.

Led by Charith Asalanka, Jaffna are on a roll this season. After losing to Galle Marvels in their tournament opener, they registered a hat-trick of wins, of which two came against Dambulla Sixers.

The star opening duo of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis, coupled with prolific individuals such as Avishka Fernando, Rilee Rossouw, and Azmatullah Omarzai among others, have been performing admirably this year, making them a strong contender for the title.
