India are all set to lock horns with Bangladesh in the second and final Test at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur, beginning on September 27. Rohit Sharma’s men will step onto the field with confidence, having already secured a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. A clean sweep is in their sights, as India not only aims to maintain their dominance but also seeks to strengthen their position in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for 2023-25.

India's Commanding Performance Against Bangladesh In First Test

India showcased their strength with a comprehensive 280-run win in the opening Test in Chennai, Ravichandran Ashwin and Rishabh Pant was the star performers, Ashwin dismantled  the Bangladesh’s batting lineup with a six-wicket haul in the second innings, while Pant made his return to the Test cricket with a cenutry (109). Bangladesh were bowled out for just 234, falling far short of India's imposing 515-run target.

However ahead of the second Test, despite their dominance, there could be a few adjustments to the team for the Kanpur match.

Possible Changes In the Playing XI For The 2nd Test

Green Park Stadium in Kanpur is known for its spinner-friendly conditions, and this could lead to a change in India's playing XI. While the selectors have retained the same squad from the first Test, the nature of the pitch might prompt Rohit Sharma to consider adding an extra spinner. Kuldeep Yadav, who has a proven track record on home soil, could be brought in for this match.

Given the expected slow nature of the wicket as the game progresses, Kuldeep may replace pacer Mohammed Siraj. Playing on his home ground, Kuldeep would be eager to make an impact and help India seal the series.

If this change occurs, India could field a spin-heavy attack with Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav, forming a potent trio perfectly suited to the conditions. With Siraj out, Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep would likely share the pace bowling duties.
