The champions of IPL in 2022, Gujarat Titans (GT) took the league by storm when they captured the title in their maiden season. Under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, the team jelled together really well and did extremely well in their first two seasons - winning in 2022 and reaching the finals in 2023.

However, last season was a disaster for the side, as they finished at the 8th position with 5 wins under their belt. Hardik moved to Mumbai Indians and GT had a new leader in Shubman Gill, and despite him performing well, the team faltered in the league.

The IPL retention rules were released on Wednesday, and 5 retentions are allowed per team. Hence, with the auction coming up in a couple of months, we look at GT's probable 5 retentions.

5) Abhinav Manohar

Not the most popular name on the list, but Manohar provides something which the Titans dearly lack - power-hitting. Despite having Miller in the team, Manohar is their most explosive batter and has that X-factor which can take the game away from the opposition.

In the recently concluded Maharaja T20 trophy, he had numerous stellar performances and should be on GT's retention list.

4) Sai Sudharsan

Elegance defines Sai Sudharsan's T20 game. Batting at number 3, he provides stability to the side. In IPL 2024, he slammed 527 runs in 12 matches, including a century and two fifties. He has the technical game, and can also accelerate as per the situation.

Plus, having a store Indian core in an IPL team is also important, and as a result, GT must look to retain Sudharsan.

3) David Miller

Killer Miller, as they call him, is one of the most destructive batters in IPL history. Prior to joining GT, Miller was having ups and downs in IPL, but since 2022, his numbers have skyrocketed.

He scored 210 runs in 9 matches last season, and struck at 151.08. Though the numbers were promising, but Millers' impact cannot be underestimated, and hence, he should be retained by GT.

2) Rashid Khan

Arguably the greatest bowler in the history of T20 cricket, Rashid Khan is a superstar, and in any other team, would have been the first retention. However, the number one pick is someone else. From Sunrisers to Gujarat, he has performed everywhere, and in every IPL season.

In 12 IPL matches last season, he picked up 10 wickets, but he also contributed with the bat and his importance cannot be denied. Rashid was instrumental in GT's title run in 2022, and should be an obvious retention choice.

1) Shubman Gill

The Prince of Indian cricket, the future of India and Gujarat Titans, Gill's rapid rise in IPL needs to be studied. Despite performing decently in previous IPL seasons, his breakthrough came in 2023, when he slammed 3 centuries, and racked up nearly 900 runs.

Last season he was appointed as the GT skipper, and the team has a lot of faith in the youngster, and hence, he'll be the number one retention.
