In the ongoing India vs England five-match Test series so far, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma's wit has stolen the limelight as much as the cricket itself. Known for his cricketing brilliance, Rohit has added a new feather to his cap, that of the series' chief humourist, with his one-liners and jests providing as much entertainment as the on-field action.

The latest addition to his repertoire of rib-ticklers came during Day 1 of the fifth Test in Dharamsala, specifically when England's Jonny Bairstow walked to the crease in what was his 100th Test match appearance.

Bairstow, struggling to find form throughout the series with a paltry average of 21.25 before this match, hoped to turn his fortunes around on this milestone occasion. However, the cricket gods, and Rohit Sharma's humour, had other plans.

As Bairstow took his stance, Rohit's cheeky instruction to his bowler was caught on the stump mic, "Isko toh kuch bhi daal (Bowl anything to him)," drawing laughter from the cricketing community and going viral on social media platforms.

This was followed by a witty addition from one of the Indian fielders, "Haa, isko theek hai. Vo sa**a wahi maarta hai (Yes, that's fine. He only hits in one direction)."

It is worth mentioning that the Indian skipper’s ability to maintain a light-hearted atmosphere has been a great quality of his captaincy, especially in the face of the intense competition that the India-England series is known for. His knack for keeping spirits high even under pressure has been a significant morale booster for the team.

Meanwhile, despite Jonny Bairstow's counterattack, which included hitting two boundaries and as many sixes, he was dismissed for 29 off 18 balls as England bowled out for 218.

On the other hand, India has responded strongly with the bat. Openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal put on a quick 104-run partnership, with Rohit unbeaten at 52 and Jaiswal contributing a rapid 57. India ended the day comfortably at 135 for one, trailing by just 83 runs and looking set for a commanding lead.
