Weeks ahead of IPL 2024 season inauguration, former champions, Sunrisers Hyderabad unveiled its brand new jersey printed in the franchise's traditional orange and black colors. However, the design of the merchandise has drawn similarities from reigning SA20 champions, Sunrisers Eastern Capes' jersey pattern.

IPL 2024 season carnival will commence on March 22, 2024. Ahead of the pivotal tournament, teams have begun their respective pre-season camps. Due to the election season in the country, the BCCI released only Phase 1 of the schedule last month.

That being said, with two weeks to go for the tournament, Sunrisers Hyderabad, former IPL champions, unveiled its brand new jersey earlier today. In an eye-catching social media post, Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is seen donning the new jersey painted in the franchise's traditional orange and black colors.

However, the pattern seems to have undergone a drastic change. Instead of an orange front and black sleeves, the jersey design is remotely similar to what Sunrisers Eastern Cape donned in this SA20 season.  As soon as SRH unveiled the post, fans were quick to spot the resemblance.

Interestingly, the Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Sunrisers Hyderabad share the same owners. However, the former has been largely successful in SA20, winning its inaugural edition. This year, the team defended its title comfortably against Durban Super Giants.

Perhaps the design inspiration could bring some luck to SRH, which has been struggling for the past few years in the IPL.

Besides the new jersey, SRH also announced Pat Cummins as the captain of the pack for the 2024 season. He replaced Aiden Markram, who ironically led the Eastern Cape to dual SA20 titles.

Nevertheless, Cummins' appointment does not come as a surprise. SRH bought him for a record price of INR 20.5 crores in this year's auction, and his overall track record as Australia's captain is exemplary.
