Johnson Charles To Open With Rizwan? Multan Sultans’ Probable Playing XI Vs Peshawar Zalmi

As the PSL 2024 season embarks on the knockout stages, table toppers Multan Sultans will square off with Peshawar Zalmi for the Qualifier 1 fixture. The winners will get a direct pass to the finals, whereas the losers will earn a chance to redeem themselves in Qualifier 2.

Multan Sultans have hardly broken a sweat this PSL season. Right from the word go, the balanced unit has stepped up at the right time to unleash impeccable domination.

While the Sultans received some beating from Islamabad United this week, Mohammad Rizwan regained the winning momentum for his side with a 79-run win over Quetta Gladiators.

That being said, Rizwan is well aware that he cannot take any chances in the knockout game given the stakes. Thus, he will be forced to introduce some bold changes to the playing XI.

Multan Sultans enjoyed a great run in the first phase of the PSL season, which was held in Multan. However, ever since the team traveled to Karachi, their find of the season, Mohammad Ali, has struggled massively.

Ali was the leading taker in Multan and was touted as an invincible fast bowler. However, the story took a wild shift in Karachi. In the past three games, Ali has been leaking runs at an abysmal economy of 10. The pacer has hardly picked any wickets, which is causing added pressure on the rest of the bowling unit.

Thus, ideally, Mohammad Ali has to sit this one out for Multan Sultans to have a better chance of winning against Peshawar Zalmi.

As far as replacement is concerned, Aftab Ibrahim or Shahnawaz Dahani can come in for Ali. While Ibrahim has had a decent season, Dahani has been out of the starting XI for most half of the season.

Having said that, barring this one change, the Sultans look settled. Rizwan and Usman Khan will continue to lead the offense, whereas David Willey, Abbas Afridi, and Usama Mir will lead the charge with the ball.
