Rohit Sharma-led team India had a memorable outing on Saturday night as they defeated South Africa to win the T20 World Cup 2024 at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. In a thrilling final, the Men in Blue emerged victorious by only seven runs to secure their second T20 World Cup title after a long gap of 17 years.

The World Cup witnessed several spectacular performances by players from across the globe. However, there were certain performances that will be remembered for a long time.

So, as the tournament marks its conclusion, here are OneCricket's five most impactful individual outings in the World Cup.

5. Saurabh Netravalkar rattles Pakistan with a sensational spell

Saurabh Netravalkar became a household name during the T20 World Cup, especially after dismissing batting stalwarts, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, in the United States' group-stage clash against the eventual champions, India.

However, his moment of glory came much before when he starred with the ball, powering the USA to a thrilling super-over win over Pakistan.

The left-arm pacer bowled exceptionally with the new as well as old ball, getting the prized breakthroughs of Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed

After finishing his spell with impressive figures of two for 18, Netravalkar held his nerves in the super over, restricting Pakistan to only 13 runs during a 19-run chase.

4. Sherfane Rutherford's counterattack sinks New Zealand

Swashbuckling West Indies batter Sherfane Rutherford earned massive applause for his blistering knock against New Zealand's formidable bowling attack.

After opting to bowl in Trinidad's seam-friendly conditions, the BlackCaps reduced the co-hosts to 30 for five inside seven overs. However, Rutherford showcased remarkable fighting spirit to hammer a breezy fifty that proved to be decisive in the end.

The southpaw struck two fours and six massive sixes for his 39-ball 68, powering West Indies to a respectable 149-run total. In response, New Zealand fell like a pack of cards, with brilliant spells from Alzarri Joseph and Gudakesh Motie resulting in the Windies' emphatic victory.

3. Rashid Khan's all-round brilliance leaves Bangladesh doomed

Their final super eights fixture against Bangladesh held significant importance for Afghanistan as they desperately needed a win to edge out Australia and qualify for the semifinal.

Although the Afghans put up a disappointing show with the bat, skipper Rashid Khan showcased his all-round brilliance to guide them to glory.

Coming at number seven, Rashid bludgeoned three sixes for a quick-fire 10-ball 19 that propelled Afghanistan to 115/5 in 20 overs on a slow pitch.

He had an even better outing with the ball as he weaved his magic in the middle overs, dismissing Soumya Sarkar, Towhid Hridoy, Mahmudullah and Rishad Hossain

His whirlwind knock and clinical four-fer were the difference between two sides as Afghanistan entered the semifinals for the first time, riding on a narrow eight-run win.

2. Axar Patel's batting heroics gets India going in Grand Finale

Considering their team balance and red-hot form, India entered the T20 World Cup final as the clear favourites.

However, a spectacular first over from Keshav Maharaj pushed the Men in Blue down on the mat, jolting them with massive breakthroughs of Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant.

After Suryakumar Yadav departed for three, India made a bold call by promoting Axar Patel to number five. The left-handed batter lived up to the expectations, smashing 47 runs in just 31 deliveries with the help of four glorious sixes.

While Virat Kohli struggled to get going, Axar released the pressure by taking on the South African bowlers, including Kagiso Rabada.

His brave knock gave India the much-needed platform, which Kohli and Shivam Dube capitalised on to help them breach the 175-run mark.

1. Jasprit Bumrah too hot to handle for South Africa

Ace Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah yet again proved his worth as he derailed South Africa with a sensational four-over spell in the all-important final.

After India posted a fighting 176-run total on the board, Bumrah provided them with an early breakthrough, castling Reeza Hendricks with an absolute ripper

However, his best performance came during the death overs where he eventually strangled the Proteas with his pace and immaculate accuracy.

He kept the swashbuckling duo of Klaasen and Miller quiet before going through Marco Jansen's defence with a sharp nip-backer in the 18th over.

He conceded only six runs off his final two overs as India defended the total successfully to become the World Champions in the shortest format.
