Bumrah to lead India's bowling attack [Source: @CricCrazyJohns/x.com]
The focus currently is on the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, but right after the league ends, India will embark on a new journey without the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as the side will travel to England for a gruelling 5-match Test series. This will be India's maiden assignment for the new WTC cycle.
On their last away tour of Australia, the Indian side disappointed, especially the bowling which lacked the cutting-edge. Barring Jasprit Bumrah, who was the lone warrior for his side, the others didn't support him enough as India lost the series, 3-1.
Now, with yet another away tour coming up, we look at India's potential bowling attack for the England series.
Bumrah to lead, no place for Harshit Rana?
The obvious choice for the leader of the pace attack is Jasprit Bumrah. He is arguably the best bowler across formats and will be India's trump card if they are to take 20 wickets in every innings. The last time he played in a SENA country, Bumrah ran riot against the Aussies, picking up 32 wickets.

On the other hand, expect no place for KKR pacer, Harshit Rana, who had a disappointing tour of Australia, scalping just 4 wickets at an average of 50. He lacks the control over lines and lengths and selectors shouldn't pick him.
Return of Shardul Thakur, Arshdeep debut?
As per reports, the selectors are pondering on inclusion of Shardul Thakur in the India Test squad. Interestingly, Shardul has a terrific record in England and also has multiple fifties with the bat.

Bowlers who can swing the ball succeed in England and Shardul has the natural capability to do that.
Another interesting choice will be the inclusion of Arshdeep Singh. India need a quality left-arm seamer to bring variety in their attack and Arshdeep can be the answer. Plus, he has the experience of playing in English County and it will benefit him against the home side.
Mohammed Siraj, just like Bumrah should be an automatic choice in the squad. Barring Bumrah, he has the experience of playing in England and he has done well there.

He was pivotal in India's success on the last England tour and should be in the playing XI as well.
Time for Prasidh Krishna to shine?
With Mohammed Shami dealing with injuries, India should include the in-form Prasidh Krishna in the side. He has the height to extract extra bounce from the surface and could be a trouble-maker even on surfaces which has nothing left for the seamers. He has an excellent out-swinger to the right-handers and England has plethora of them.
