In what could be the biggest shakedown in IPL history, Rohit Sharma is reportedly on the verge of quitting Mumbai Indians (MI) after the ongoing IPL 2024 season as he is extremely unhappy with Hardik Pandya's captaincy.

Not a single thing has gone in MI's favour ever since the franchise re-signed Hardik Pandya to appoint him as the captain of the team, thus replacing five-time IPL-winning captain Rohit Sharma.

While the fanbase has been divided, with Rohit Sharma receiving tons of sympathy, Pandya is also dealing with extreme criticism and hate for MI's three straight losses this year.

Amid growing speculations of an alleged rift and groupism insider the camp, News24 has dropped a bombshell claim related to Rohit Sharma's future with MI.

Rohit Sharma to leave MI after rift with Hardik Pandya?

As per a report by News24, it is learned that Rohit Sharma is planning to quit Mumbai Indians by the end of the IPL 2024 season as he is essentially unhappy with Hardik Pandya's captaincy.

Apparently, the duo has often encountered differences in opinions and Rohit was reportedly seen having heated arguments with Pandya over some of his questionable choices on the field.

Moreover, the inside source claims Rohit Sharma is unable to adjust to Hardik Pandya's style of leadership, and due to the hostile dressing room environment created in the aftermath of their heated discussions, Rohit has decided to leave the franchise for good.

That being said, while the report is purely speculative, Rohit Sharma's potential departure could prove to be devastating for Mumbai Indians. The franchise has already lost the fans' trust and faith.

Moreover, the team hasn't done well enough under Hardik Pandya's leadership thus far. The boiling tensions could soon break apart the franchise. Therefore, it's perennial for the owners to step in and defuse the situation as soon as possible.
