The BCCI recently announced the updated retention policies for the upcoming IPL 2025 mega-auctions. The apex board has allowed teams to retain up to six players, which also allows the franchises to use RTM.

According to reports, the apex cricket board of India has asked the ten teams to finalise their retention list before October 31, which is said to be the deadline. Meanwhile, this article will shed light on three-star wicket-keepers who are unlikely to be retained by their teams and can start a bidding war in the upcoming mega-auction.

1. Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan made his  Mumbai Indians debut in 2018, has been with the franchise since 2018. The southpaw had to re-enter the auction in 2022 and emerged as the highest-paid player, earning 15.25 crores.

Kishan has failed to do justice to his price tag and is now likely to be released ahead of the upcoming auction. Decoding Mumbai Indians' tactics, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav are likely to be their top-choice retention.

Thus, Ishan will enter the auction, which can cause a bidding war as MI would want to re-acquire his services. While teams like Gujarat Titans, who lack a quality keeper, will eye such quality keepers.

2. Dhruv Jurel

Dhruv Jurel is another name that is rising to fame for his work behind the gloves. Jurel made it to the news after he equalled MS Dhoni's record for most catches in an innings in the Duleep Trophy with seven takes.

Jurel is a rising star for Rajasthan Royals, but by retaining him, Rajasthan would not look to spend 11 crores to attain Jurel's services. Thus, it is likely that he would be present in the auction and go for a big amount, around 5-6 crores.

3. Jitesh Sharma

What Jurel has done for Rajasthan Royals, Jitesh has done the same for Punjab Kings. Although,The Kings would look for a total revamp in the upcoming season, as they have also roped in Ricky Ponting as the next head coach.

Jitesh Sharma had a poor IPL 2024, as he scored just 187 runs in 14 matches. Thus, Jitesh is likely to be released by Punjab Kings. Given Jitesh's potential, he is likely to fetch a big amount as teams would look to have him in their squad.
