The mega auction for IPL 2025 is around the corner and it is scheduled to take place in late November. There is no clarification on the venue yet, but BCCI has released the retention rules and each franchise is allowed to retain six players. They can retain those players before the mega auction or through RTM and one of them at least should be an uncapped player.

The last date for sending the retention list to BCCI is 31st October and apart from retention, there will be number of talented young players up for grabs in IPL. Abdul Samad is one of them, and with twin centuries in the Ranji game against Odisha, he is making all the right noises ahead of the auction. Here are the few teams that will target Abdul Samad in the upcoming mega auction:-

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Abdul Samad has been associated with SRH since 2020 and was also retained by SRH ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction. He has not lived upto his billing, but has performed well in patches and has the talent to deliver with his power-hitting skills. So, SRH might retain him as an uncapped player once again at a price of 4 Crore as has the potential to be a long term prospect. They might also use RTM for the Jammu and Kashmir player or may just buy him directly in auction if they want.

He is a handy bowler too and seems to be showing signs of maturing as a cricketer. So, SRH would like to persist with the talent they have groomed over the years.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)

Royal Challengers Bengaluru is one the high-profile teams in the IPL but have never won the trophy despite boasting of some of the biggest names in the world of cricket. The problem has been the lack of depth in the Indian arsenal and they have relied heavily on few players. Dinesh Karthik has retired now and they would need a good Indian finisher in the batting department and Abdul Samad can be a good choice to perform that role.

Also, Chinnaswamy, the home ground of RCB is known to be a good batting deck and Abdul Samad's power-hitting can be handy on that pitch. So, expect RCB to go after Samad if SRH release him.

Rajasthan Royals

RR are known to back young Indian talent and they might bid for Abdul Samad in the upcoming auction as they too need an Indian finisher in their squad. They would have to release Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel, so they would need a batter of substance who can serve them for a long time, and Abdul Samad can fit into that role perfectly.

Also, Abdul Samad has age on his side, so RR management might go after him and invest in him for long term as they have done with the likes of Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag in the past.
