IPL 2025: 3 Players CSK Will Look To Repurchase In The Mega Auction

Chennai Super Kings are among the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League's history. They have been consistent throughout their journey and will seek to maintain their legacy in the upcoming seasons. 

One of the CSK team's main strengths has been its ability to maintain its core over the years. To maintain its core, CSK will try to retain some of its key players and buy back the other members of its core that it might have to release during the mega auction. 

Here are three players that CSK will try and repurchase during the IPL 2025 mega auction. 

3. Mustafizur Rahman

The Bangladesh pacer was an important part of the CSK bowling attack during IPL 2024. In the nine games that he played, Mustafizur Rahman picked up 14 wickets and became a crucial part of their bowling plan, especially with his expertise in death overs. Given the retention rules that the BCCI has released for IPL 2025, it will be hard for CSK to retain him. So, the management will look to release him and then repurchase him during the mega auction. 

2. Daryl Mitchell

The New Zealand all-rounder established himself in the middle order of the Chennai Super Kings. Although Daryl Mitchell did not get the expected consistency, he played a couple of crucial knocks under pressure. Besides, Mitchell has shown that he enjoys batting under pressure in the international arena. Therefore, CSK will consider him a prospect who will provide solidity to the middle-order team. 

1. Sameer Rizvi

The Chennai Super Kings used the young batter as a floater in their line-up during IPL 2024. Even though Sameer Rizvi did not get enough chances, he showed great promise in whatever opportunities he got. He looks like an excellent prospect for CSK's future. Sameer Rizvi can develop to become CSK's prime stay. Because of the retention rules, CSK might retain MS Dhoni as their uncapped player and release Sameer Rizvi. However, they might have to go hard during the mega auction to repurchase Rizvi.
