After losing the first T20I by a mere 12-run margin, India Women will lock horns with their South African counterparts in the second game of the ongoing three-match series on Sunday. The high-voltage clash is scheduled at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

India Women

Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India were underwhelming with bat and ball in the series opener. Bowling first, India Women conceded 189 runs with the ball as their two biggest weapons, Renuka Singh Thakur and Deepti Sharma, had an off day. 

Pooja Vastrakar was the pick of the bowlers, while Radha Yadav bowled an expensive spell despite picking up two wickets.  

In the batting department, Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues slammed impactful knocks, while skipper Harmanpreet played 29 balls for her 35-run knock. 

Dayalan Hemalatha was the major disappointment for the hosts as she let the team down with a sloth-paced 17-ball 14. 

So, moving on to this game, India would like better returns from Deepti and Renuka with the ball besides showing more intent with the bat.

South Africa Women

On the other hand, South Africa Women were phenomenal across departments as they outclassed the hosts in the first T20I. 

Tazmin Brits and Marizanne Kapp were the chief architects of Proteas' batting dominance, hammering 81 and 57 runs, respectively. 

Although they could scalp only four wickets, the visitors were smarter than their opponents on the field, hitting the right areas and fielding magnificently to restrict India Women to 177. 

With Brits and Kapp in scintillating form, skipper Laura Wolvaardt would like to join the party and contribute to her team's success on a batting-friendly Chepauk surface. 

The eyes will also be on Ayabonga Khaka and Nonkululeko Mlaba, who are expected to play key roles with the ball.
