T20 World Champions India had a disastrous start to the five-match series against Zimbabwe as the hosts handed them a shocking 13-run defeat in a low-scoring affair at Harare Sports Club. 

Experienced pacer Tendai Chatara was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball for Zimbabwe, scalping three wickets for 16 runs. Chatara, who earlier got rid of Riyan Parag and Rinku Singh, made Washington Sundar his third victim to wrap up the Indian innings.

The incident occurred in the final over of the Indian innings when the hosts had already pushed the visitors on the verge of defeat. 

Sundar, who was batting on 25, was tasked to score 16 runs in the last over while he had Khaleel Ahmed at the other end. 

Chatara initially kept things tight, conceding only two runs off his first four deliveries. As India's defeat was evident, Sundar went for a wild swing as Chatara dropped it slightly short on his penultimate delivery. 

However, he couldn't get a hold of it, with the ball gobbling up in the air for a long time. Blessing Muzarabani, who got the prized scalp of Ruturaj Gaikwad, positioned himself perfectly to take a sharp catch. 

With this victory, Zimbabwe went one-nil up in the series. Both teams will again collide on Sunday in the second match at the same venue.
