Smriti Mandhana has been in the form of her life as of late. It all started during the South Africa series, when she scored back-to-back centuries, and narrowly missed out on the third.

In the one-off Test, she again proved her mettled with a fine century as India crushed their opposition with utmost ease.

A lot was riding on her performance if India were to win the Asia Cup match against arch-rivals, Pakistan, and she delivered the goods once again with a crucial 31-ball 45 run knock under pressure.

Indian bowlers restricted Pakistan Women to a meagre 108. The Dambulla pitch was slightly slow and the batters found it difficult to get going. Spinners, Deepti Sharma and Shreyanka Patil, showed their class and picked up 5 wickets amongst themselves.

The target of 109 was never going to be tough for the confident Indian batters, but it needed a master-stroke at the top and Mandhana provided just that. Normally she takes time to settle in and allows Shafali Verma to do the damage. However, yesterday we witnessed a different Mandhana, who was eager to take down the attack.

Her foot movement was precise and she found the gaps at will as India dominated the Pakistan bowlers in the early proceedings.

Normally, her strike-rate is around 130-135 in the T20Is, but yesterday, she stamped her authority and struck at 145.16, which proved to be the point of difference between the two teams.
