Glenn Phillips was involved in a disastrous mix-up with fellow batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz in LPL 2024, which led to his run-out.

He looked visibly upset and showed his anger by punching his bat during the Eliminatior clash between Kandy Falcons and Colombo Strikers.

The event occurred in the 3rd over of the Colombo innings when Angelo Mathews bowled a length ball outside the off and Phillips punched it to the cover fielder and immediately ran for a single. Gurbaz, too, ran for the single, but at the half-way mark, he decided against the run and turned his back. 

Both the batters were at the non strikers end, but since Gurbaz reached their first, Phillips' wicket was sacrificed as the bails were dislodged at the strkers end. Furious with the act, Phillips, first punched his bat, and while walking back to the pavilion, he threw his bat hard to show his anger.

Meanwhile, an all-round performance helped Kandy Falcons beat the Colombo side to reach the Qualifier 2 stage of the competition. 

Colombo scored 159/8 while batting first, and the target was rather chased down with ease, as Kamindu Mendis' 54 off 36 balls led the charge for a victory.
