India Women routed their Pakistani counterparts in match number two of the 2024 Women’s T20 Asia Cup at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on July 19.

IND vs PAK Highlights: Pooja Vastrakar Gets Both PAK Openers

Sharing the new-ball with Renuka Singh, Indian fast bowler Pooja Vastrakar removed both Pakistan openers in her first two overs of the match. The speedster had Gull Feroza caught at mid-on by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, and deceived Muneeba Ali with a short delivery as Pakistan slipped to 26-2 in just 3.5 overs.

Pooja Vastrakar’s new-ball blitz restricted Pakistan’s powerplay start to just 37-2 from six overs.


IND vs PAK Highlights: Shreyanka, Renuka Blitz Through PAK Middle-Order

Emboldened by Pooja Vastrakar’s early strikes, spinners Shreyanka Patil and Deepti Sharma as well as fast bowler Renuka Singh blitzed through Pakistan’s middle-order with timely breakthroughs. Shortly after the opening powerplay, Shreyanka sacked Pakistan number four Aliya Riaz from the crease before Deepti got into the act with the wicket of ‘Women in Green’ skipper Nida Dar.

Renuka also struck off successive deliveries to remove Sidra Amin and Iram Javed to finish with figures of 2-14 as Pakistan crashed to 61-6 from 13 overs.

In one of her return spells, Deepti Sharma curtailed the brewing partnership between Fatima Sana and Tuba Hassan by dismissing the latter at 92-7. Later in the same over, the Indian off-spinner had number 10 Nashra Sandhu caught behind by Richa Ghosh.

While Deepti finished with figures of 3-20 from her 20 overs, young Shreyanka Patil (2-14) enveloped the entire Pakistani line-up for 108 by knocking over Sadia Iqbal.

Indian openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma batted Pakistan out of the game with their attacking powerplay approach. The two blistering batters extracted 57 runs from just the first six overs of the run-chase.
