Rajasthan Royals did quite well in the last cycle of IPL, but in the 2025 season, they have not been upto the mark and have struggled to get wins under their belt. They have lost some close matches, and now against RCB, they ended up making a mess of another chase, losing the game by 11 runs.

It has put them on the brink of elimination, and now they have seven losses from nine games and have just four points in their kitty. Thus, looking at all the scenarios, here is how RR can qualify for the playoffs after the loss against RCB.

RR IPL 2025 Playoffs Qualification Scenario Explained

  • Rajasthan Royals are in the eighth position on the points table, and with the net run rate at -0.625, they need a lot of things to go their way. Most importantly, they have to win all their matches and take their points tally to 14.
  • One more loss for RR, and they would be eliminated from the playoffs race of IPL 2025.
  • Apart from winning all the games, RR would have to hope that four teams do not reach 16 points at the end of the group stage.
  • The champions of the inaugural edition of the IPL also have to make sure that they get their net run rate over other teams who would end up with 14 points.

RCB's First Home Win Put RR On The Brink Of Elimination

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and decided to chase in a bid to end their losing run. Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal though stitched together a quality second-wicket stand, and with some finishing touches in the end, RCB managed to cross the 200-run mark. 

RR started the run-chase with a bang and looked set to chase down the target at the halfway mark. However, they ended up making a mess of another chase with their finishers failing to deliver under pressure again. Rajasthan Royals now need a miracle to make it to the playoffs with injuries and close matches not going their way.
