SRH started off IPL 2025 with a big win, but things have completely downhill for them since then. Their poor run of form continued in the home game against MI, and they ended up losing the game by seven wickets.
Now, with the loss against MI, SRH have just two wins out of their eight games and are in a precarious position in terms of qualification for the playoffs. Thus, with SRH in a critical state, let's see how they can qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs
SRH IPL 2025 Playoff Qualification Scenario Explained
- SRH now have just four points in their kitty and are in the ninth position. The maximum points they can reach from this stage are 16 points. Even 16 points might not be enough for SRH as they have a very low net run-rate of -1.361. Only CSK have poor net run-rate in the points table.
- One more loss would mean that they can end with maximum points of 14, and it could end their hopes as more than four teams still have the possibility of reaching 16 points.
- Thus, to qualify for the playoffs, from hereon, Pat Cummins' SRH need to win all their games, and try to improve their net run-rate as well. At most they can afford to lose one more game, but they would then need their net run-rate to shoot up drastically.
MI Put Pat Cummins' SRH On The Brink Of Elimination
SRH were the runners-up of the last IPL, but have struggled with their ultra-aggressive approach this time around. They were expected to make a strong comeback in Hyderabad after losing to MI at the Wankhede, but things went completely downhill from the start of the game.
They were reduced to 35-5 in no time, and were always behind the 8-ball from thereon. They did post a decent total of 143 with Heinrich Klaasen and Abhinav Manohar playing handy knocks. MI batters though came out all guns blazing, and finished off the chase in the 16th over to put SRH in a deep hole in IPL 2025.
