Rohit Sharma To Lead MI Once Again? IPL Legend Feels Owners Will Sack Pandya

The five-time IPL winners-Mumbai Indians (MI) are facing a tough time with three consecutive losses at the beginning of the season, casting doubt on Hardik Pandya's suitability as captain. Speculation about a mid-season change in leadership is circulating, with former India and KKR cricketer Manoj Tiwary suggesting it's a possibility.

In addition to the string of losses, the team is receiving backlash from fans for replacing Rohit Sharma with Pandya as captain.

Tiwary hints Hardik can be replaced by Rohit mid-way

Speaking to Cricbuzz after Mumbai's loss to Rajasthan, Tiwary hinted at the possible reinstatement of Rohit as MI captain due to their poor start in the 2024 season. He feels that the MI owners are not afraid to make big decisions.

“I want to say something big. I have this feeling that during this break, Rohit Sharma could be given back the captaincy from Hardik Pandya. It can happen. It’s a big call because whatever little I understand these franchises and owners, they don’t hesitate in taking calls. They had started it when they took the captaincy from Rohit and gave it to Hardik. 

Now it’s pretty big when you change a captain who has won you five titles. And now that they haven’t won a single game and the captaincy also looks jaded. Mistakes are happening,”  Manoj Tiwary said on Cricbuzz.

With three losses in the ongoing IPL, Mumbai Indians' newly appointed skipper is under scrutiny and facing criticism from experts and fans. It remains to be seen how he will lead the team's resurgence in the tournament.
