Bengal's promising keeper-batter Abhishek Porel had a memorable outing in Delhi Capitals' IPL 2024 opener against Punjab Kings. Arriving at the crease as DC's impact player, Porel hammered 32 runs off ten balls, ensuring a fitting finish for the Capitals in this process. 

Porel's moment of glory came during the final over of the Capitals' innings, as he smashed Harshal Patel to all parts of the ground. Riding on bowlers' excellence, Punjab Kings dominated Delhi Capitals throughout the innings until the last over when Porel's fireworks scripted the visitors' remarkable comeback. 

The stylish southpaw began the over with a boundary through a stunning pull shot before dispatching the second ball into the mid-wicket stand for a six. He continued his onslaught on the ex-RCB star, hitting three more boundaries and collecting 25 runs in this process. 

Interestingly, Harshal was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball for Punjab heading to the final over, as he had already dismissed David Warner and Rishabh Pant. However, his ordinary bowling in the final over led to his dismal bowling figures of 2/47. 

Delhi Capitals, who were reeling at 147 for eight, managed to finish their innings on a high note, posting a respectable 174-run total. Apart from Porel, Shai Hope and David Warner played pivotal roles for the Capitals, contributing 33 and 29 runs, respectively.
