So, the tri-nation series between Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa has been a spicy affair as all the three sides prepare for the upcoming Champions Trophy. The mini tournament provides the team to assess the conditions and their bench strength before the mega ICC tournament commences on February 19.

In the first ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand, the Kiwis came out on top as they crushed the hosts in a one-sided game. Glenn Phillips slammed a majestic century as the home team crumbled under pressure and lost the match.

In the second game between the Kiwis and South Africa, New Zealand came out on top once again, courtesy of a sublime century from Kane Williamson as the former captain of the team blew away the Proteas side with utmost ease.

The tournament has reached at a point where only one game is left prior to the finals, and Pakistan will battle against South Africa on Wednesday. After two games done and dusted, does Pakistan have a chance to qualify for the finals? Here's the scenario.

How Pakistan can qualify for the finals

New Zealand's win over South Africa has made Pakistan's job a lot easier. Had the Proteas would have won the contest, Pakistan would have had to beat the Rainbow nation by a considerable margin and the qualifivation then would have been pinned on the basis of net run-rate.

However, the Kiwis are already in the finals and Pakistan now have a simple task at their hands - beat South Africa and qualify. The ODI match between the two teams will be a virtual knockout and the hosts simply have to outplay the visitors to set a date with the Kiwis in the grand finale.

A loss against South Africa would mean that the Mohammad Rizwan led side will crash out of the competition and it will significantly dent their confidence ahead of Champions Trophy.
