Desert Vipers couldn't win the ILT20 competition as they lost in the finals, however, their skipper, Sam Curran turned on beast mode and was at his imperial best as he tonked the Dubai Capitals bowlers with utmost ease and tore apart their bowling attack in the finale at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The Vipers batted first and lost a couple of early wickets, however, Curran (62), alongside Max Holden 76) steered the Vipers' innings. The duo took on the Dubai Capitals attack and it was Sam Curran who showed his brute side with unreal hitting. He played some majestic shots, but the highlight of his knock was a 117 metre six which he struck to amaze the fans.
The moment occurred when the Capitals bowler delivered a short of length delivery and Sam Curran was ready for the task. He sat back and connected from the sweet spot of the bat as the ball travelled million miles into the stands for a 117m colossal six.
Capitals clinched their maiden title
Vipers had the match in the palm of their hands when they had dismissed David Warner and Gulbadin Naib cheaply. However, the match turned when Rovman Powell and smashed 63 off 38 balls, at a strike-rate of 165.
He was amply supported by Shai Hope 43) and Sikandar Raza (34) as the Capitals came back from behind to do the impossible and clinch their maiden ILT20 title. For the Capitals franchise, this was their maiden league title across all the franchise tournaments.
