Antigua and Barbuda Falcons (ABF) are set to lock horns with the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in Match 8 of the Caribbean Premier League 2024 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua, on Friday, September 6. The Falcons, new entrants to this year’s CPL, find themselves in troubled waters as they hunt for their maiden victory after a dismal start to the tournament whereas the Knight Riders will look to ride on the winning momentum.

Currently languishing at the bottom of the points table, the Falcons have lost all four of their matches and are desperate to stop the rot. Their most recent loss came against the Saint Lucia Kings, where they slumped to a seven-wicket defeat.

In the bowling department, star pacer Mohammad Amir has been far from his best, leaking 45 runs in his four wicketless overs against Saint Lucia.

However, there were some silver linings, as Imad Wasim and captain Chris Green bowled economically, giving away just 21 and 24 runs in their four-over spells, respectively, while taking one wicket each. Their top order was firing on all cylinders, with Nicholas Pooran playing a blinder, smashing 97 off 43 balls. He was ably supported by Keacy Carty, who hammered 73 off 35 deliveries, as TKR posted a mammoth 250/4 in their 20 overs.

Sunil Narine chipped in with a quickfire 38 off 19 at the top, while Jason Roy will be eager to make amends for his early dismissal for just 6.

TKR's bowling unit is no slouch either, featuring the likes of Joshua Little, Terrance Hinds, Narine, and veteran all-rounder Dwayne Bravo.

Little and Narine picked up two wickets each in their last outing, and much will depend on them to keep the Falcons' batters under the pump as they aim to make it two in two.
