India A and India B are locking horns with each other in the first game of the Duleep Trophy 2024 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Shubman Gill, star Indian batter, is leading the India A team, while Abhimanyu Easwaran is the captain of India B.

Shubman Gill's appearance in the ongoing match has caught the attention of fans, especially due to the unusual taped-up jersey he is wearing.

While the exact reason behind the tape is unclear, it seems that it could be a case of him not finding his regular '77' jersey. Another possibility is that he might have had to use another team member's jersey temporarily and decided to cover the number to avoid confusion.

All Of Shubman Gill's Jersey Numbers

  • IPL - Gujarat Titans - Jersey Number- 7
  • India -  Jersey Number- 77

It is important to mention that, Shubman Gill has a special connection to the number 7. As he revealed earlier when he was playing in the U19 World Cup, he wanted to wear the number 7 jersey, but it wasn't available, so he decided to double the number and go with 77 instead.

This was a clever way for him to stick with what he considered a lucky number, given that 7 is often seen as fortunate in many numerologies.

The number 77 has since become an integral part of his identity on the field and represents his belief in the number's luck but also his determination to adapt and make the best of situations.
