Bangladesh revealed their 25-member preliminary squad for the upcoming Asia Cup in the UAE. The same squad will also be in contention for the three-match T20I series against the Netherlands, scheduled in Sylhet from August 30. The squad boasts some of the most talented players in the team, as the Tigers aim to win the coveted Asia Cup.

On the other hand, the preliminary squad also includes some players who have been out of form and could be omitted from the final 15. Here are 3 such Bangladesh stars who could be left out when the official squad gets announced.

Bangladesh preliminary squad for Asia Cup

Litton Das (Captain), Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Mohammad Naim Sheikh, Soumya Sarkar, Mohammad Parvez Hossain Emon, Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali Anik, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shamim Hossain Patwary, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Rishad Hossain, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Tanvir Islam, Nasum Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mohammad Saifuddin, Nahid Rana, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan Ankon, Saif Hassan.

Players who could be left out

1) Mehidy Hasan Miraz

All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz was added to the provisional squad for the Asia Cup, but the talented player has been out of form, and failed to impress the selectors with his performance in the T20I series vs Pakistan - home, and away from home. What started as a promising T20I career, has suddenly faded, and Mehidy Miraz could probably lose out on a berth for the Asia Cup.

A strike rate of 116.75, and 418 runs doesn't justify Miraz's talent. Recently, he was also dropped from the playing XI Vs Sri Lanka in the series decider, and one assumes the selectors won't shy away from dropping him again.

2) Nurul Hasan

Nurul Hasan was overlooked for quite some time, but the selectors drafted him in the provisional squad after a stellar domestic season. However, the only drawback has been his past track record in T20Is. The batter has struggled for runs, and his strike rate has also been questionable.

Just 445 runs, with a strike rate of 118, showcase Nurul's inability to hit big shots, which is needed in the game's shortest format. In the last few months, Bangladesh has moved on from anchors, and is trying out to play with aggressive batters in their squad.

3) Najmul Hossain Shanto

In Mohammad Naim, and Parvez Hossain Emon, Bangladesh have their top-order fixed, and with Litton Das occupying the number 3 spot, there is no place for Najmul Hossain Shanto in the squad.

Shanto was recently dropped from the T20I series vs Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, and it was a sign that the Tigers have moved on from him.

As the table suggests, despite playing 50 T20I matches, Shanto is yet to get a grasp of the format, as he strikes at only 109. His game has become outdated for the T20Is, and Bangladesh have their top-3 sorted, which means, Shanto might not be picked in the final squad.
