Punjab Kings had a long and tiring mega auction as they spent almost INR 110 crore to make a new team from scratch.

Having retained only two uncapped players in Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh, the Kings bought a lot of influential players at the auction table, including Shreyas Iyer and Yuzvendra Chahal.

The South African speedster has been in tremendous form lately. He is the leading wicket-taker in SA20 2025 season with 16 wickets in 11 games. Jansen has also upgraded his batting skills, having amassed 199 runs. Moreover, his stats in the ODI format speaks for itself. In 26 games, he has 41 wickets with a standout economy of 6.31. 

Hence, the Punjab pacer is likely to spearhead South Africa's pace battery and with his newly sharpened all-round skills, he can be a match-winner for the Proteas in the Champions Trophy.

Glenn Maxwell, one of the best white-ball cricket all-rounders, would probably be the trump card of Australia in the 2025 Champions Trophy. Talking about his current form, Glenn Maxwell scored 325 runs for Melbourne Stars in the BBL 2024-25 season. 

Other than that, in the ODI format, he has a relatively impressive record. Across 145 ODI games, he collected 3950 runs at a 126.35 strike rate. 

He also hammered five hundred, including a majestic double hundred against Afghanistan in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings bought him back INR 4.2 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Shreyas Iyer received a whopping INR 26.75 crore from PBKS in the IPL 2025 mega auction and became the second most expensive player in the league's history. A few weeks later, he was named the captain of the franchise. 

Having said that, Iyer made a return to the ODI format from a very long time of hiatus. He had an authoritative run in the 2023 ODI World Cup as he scored 530 runs in 11 games, including 2 hundreds. He also regained his form in the first ODI against England by slamming a half-century. 

Hence, Iyer can become the trusted middle-order batter for India in Champions Trophy 2025. As top guns Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are struggling hard for form, Iyer may be an underrated match-winner for India.
