The Gujarat Titans franchise made several changes to its squad composition at the IPL 2025 mega auction last November. While they retained captain Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Sai Sudharsan among other usual Titans zealots, the franchise also acquired new overseas stars for the highly-awaited IPL 2025 season.
Notably, most of their IPL 2025 bound players will also be representing their respective nations in the upcoming 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Here, we take a look at three particular Gujarat Titans batters the franchise will closely examine in the eight-team ODI tournament in Pakistan and in the UAE.
3. Glenn Phillips

New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips was acquired by the Gujarat Titans franchise back in November after undergoing a couple of gloomy seasons with Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Whilst a seasoned T20 campaigner, Phillips has also played 36 ODI matches for New Zealand and 87 List A games overall in his career.
Ahead of the IPL 2025 season, Glenn Phillips will surely be on Titans’ radar as they assess his form and contributions in the Champions Trophy 2025, in a bid to determine his potential impact in their squad. The hard-hitting New Zealander already holds an impressive track record in ODIs, and he is set to command his team’s middle-order batting diaspora in yet another ICC event.

2. Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill was fittingly retained by the Gujarat Titans franchise prior to the IPL 2025 mega auction, and the elegant Indian top-order batter will once again be seen marshalling the troops in the upcoming season. While Gill recently returned with a disastrous Test trip from Australia, the cricketer also disappointed on his previous ODI outing for Team India back in August 2024, scoring just 57 runs in three matches against Sri Lanka.
In desperate need of some international white-ball runs, Shubman Gill’s form in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will be closely monitored by the Gujarat Titans, as a strong showing in the tournament could restore his confidence and set the tone for a commanding IPL 2025 campaign.

1. Jos Buttler

Jos Buttler was roped in by the Gujarat Titans franchise for a staggering amount at the IPL 2025 mega auction after the legendary Englishman enjoyed seven prolific seasons with Rajasthan Royals. Equally frugal in ODI cricket, Buttler has mounted over 5,000 runs in the format to stand out as one of the leading run-makers for his team.
With Jos Buttler, the Titans franchise is now imbued with an ideal candidate for captaincy in case of Shubman Gill’s absence. The 34-year-old will be seen leading the English team in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, and his performances in the tournament will offer the Titans valuable insights into his form and tactical sharpness ahead of the IPL 2025 season.
