'You Can Say Anything...,' Waqar Younis Slams Sourav Ganguly For His 'IND-PAK Being One-Sided' Comments

Legendary Pakistan cricketer Waqar Younis didn't hold back in responding to Sourav Ganguly's comments about India-Pakistan matches being one-sided. Waqar emphasized that regardless of what anyone says, the magnitude of an India-Pakistan clash surpasses any other game in cricket.

Ganguly had recently remarked that the ties between India and Pakistan have been mostly one-sided, with India dominating their neighbouring nation.

"There is a lot of hype in this match but the quality has not been that good for a long time because India kept on winning one-sided. Pakistan probably defeated India for the first time in the T20 World Cup in Dubai," Sourav Ganguly had said a week ago.

However, Waqar chose not to engage in a direct response to Ganguly's statement. Instead, he expressed that there have been competitive games between the two teams, and while Pakistan had a one-sided victory in the 2021 T20 World Cup, the matches they lost were close encounters.

For Waqar, the significance of India-Pakistan matches transcends individual opinions. He firmly believes that these games hold a unique and massive place in the world of cricket, and when the scale of the game is so enormous, individual comments become inconsequential.

"I don't want to comment on that. I feel we have had good games. The match that Pakistan won was pretty one-sided (in 2021 T20 WC). But the ones we lost were pretty close as well. So, you can say anything you want, the matches between India and Pakistan are the biggest in the world. When the scale of the game is that big, no one's comments really matter," Waqar Younis said in a video posted by paktv.tv.

As per the current schedule, India and Pakistan are set to face each other twice this year. The first encounter will be during the Asia Cup 2023 on September 2nd in their Group A match at Kandy, Sri Lanka. The second game will take place during the 2023 World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15th.
